WORKSHOPS

Orchidmania Workshops include Care Advice and Potting Demonstrations

  • Phalaenopsis orchids are sometimes called 'Moth' orchids.  This is because in the wild they grow attached to trees, high up under the tree canopies and look like moths hovering in the air
  • Phalaenopsis orchids flower for a long time and so are excellent value as houseplants
  • Phalaenopsis orchids are ideal as 'Beginner' orchids

Choose which Workshop is best for you.........................

The Beginner Workshop is for people who own the most popular types of orchids such as Phalaenopsis

The Intermediate Workshop is for those people who want to try to keep more unusual orchids in the home such as

Dendrobiums, Cymbidiums, Oncidiums, Vandas

The Orchid Clinic Workshop is for people who would like bring their own orchids along for advice/repotting

Each Workshop begins with a presentation explaining  how to care for orchids and how to get them to flower again.

This is followed by a demonstration and then a hands-on activity:

Beginners will watch me demonstrate how to repot an orchid and then have a go at repotting an orchid themselves -  which they can take home afterwards.

Intermediate Participants will see me demonstrate how to mount an orchid onto bark and be able to try for themselves.

My Workshops are designed to be educational whilst having hands-on fun.

Coffee and homemade cakes half way through the sessions allows participants to get to know each other.

Phalaenopsis Care - Tips

Here are a few tips to give you a taster of what you can learn on one of my Workshops

  • Phalaenopsis like temperatures between 16 - 28 degrees Celsius
  •  They grow best in dappled sunlight
  • Water them with rain water. If you only have tap water, then leave it to stand for 1 day.
  • Check regularly for pests
  • Feed them by adding liquid feed to the rain water every 3 out of  4 times
